3. CLARE OPEN/MID-NORTH SPRINTS REPORT
A fun time was had by all the Barossa Wavemakers that attended the Clare Open and Mid-North Sprints held this weekend.
Star of the Mid-North sprints show today was 8 yr old Noah Lewcock who returned to his very best to win gold in each of the 4 sprint events across each stroke discipline in which he competed. Other highlights included first-ever medals won by 9yr old Sam Swincer with a silver in the 25 back and bronze in the 25 breast, the 100m free and 100 breast debut swim from John Langford, and a series of terrific results for all our 100m IM participants with particular mention of the efforts of Hayley Langford. Among the three silver medal-winning swims of 9 yr old Annabel Ashmead, her stroke rate and speed of finish in the 25m backstroke was acknowledged as one of the swims of the day. 13yr old sister Charlotte Ashmead produced a brilliant 25m fly, and also made the open freestyle skins final on her way to amassing 4 medals for the day. Miella Curthoys-Davies enjoyed the sprint format collecting 4 gold and 1 bronze medal, while Sophie Ashmead and Eddie Barnes also collected a swag of 3 medals each. Lauren Langford continues to improve, and produced a wonderful effort in today’s outing over the 100m freestyle distance.
The Clare Open on the Saturday was attended by Freya Cartledge, Sam Swincer, Harry Swincer and Eddie Barnes who all achieved at least one PB.
Well done, all!
4. CRYSTAL BROOK OPEN/LOXTON CARNIVAL REPORTS
Wavemakers Fraser and Saxon Kearns, and Nyah, Emma and Max Schubert represented our club very creditably at the Crystal Brook and Loxton carnivals last weekend. We are still trying to track down results and will bring them to the attention of our membership when we have, but in the meantime we are delighted to report the news (which has filtered through) that Fraser (7) won medals (his first swimming medals!) at Crystal Brook. Well done, Fraser!
