1.   NEW SEASON MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION FORMS

Please be reminded that registration forms (attached to last week’s newsletter) are to be completed and submitted within one week of season commencement (Tuesday October 1st).

Each swimmer has been assigned to a squad for the commencement of the new season – please feel free to contact the Head Coach if you have any questions regarding your swimmer’s assigned squad and/or the associated training fee.

2. ADDITIONAL TRAINING SESSION – MORE DETAILS

We intend add an additional Wednesday afternoon training session to our training schedule from the first week of the next school term.

This session will be added to accommodate the needs and/or wishes of either selected swimmers of the T2 squad or above, or swimmers of the T2 squad or above whose preference it is to swim on a Wednesday afternoon in replacement of one of the other sessions available to them.

Attendance at this session is available upon request, and those wishing to attend this session are expected to do so on a regular and committed basis.

LIST OF SWIMMERS WHO HAVE SO FAR REQUESTED TO ATTEND THE WED AFTERNOON SESSION: Noah Ralph, Makayla Docherty

3. PLAYFORD CARNIVAL TODAY

Best of luck to the 6 wavemakers, Noah Ralph, Isabella Shannon, Charlotte Shannon, Meg Wood, Harry Swincer and Sam Swincer who will compete at the Playford Carnival today.

4. MARION CARNIVAL

Marion Swimming Club will hold their LC carnival on Sunday November 3rd. If you are interested in competing at this meet (a great chance to achieve state or country times), please see the following information and the attached flyer as received from the carnival organisers.

The MSC Long Course Carnival is just over a month away, however entries close strictly at 5pm on Wednesday 9th October 2019. We will not be able to accept any late entries sorry, regardless of the reasons, so please ensure you get your entries in asap so if there are any problems, they can be dealt with in time.

· Gates open 7:30am, Warm up 7:45am, First race is 9am. We have decided to bring our Carnival times in line with Swimming SA meets, in order to reduce confusion. Unfortunately this information didn’t make it in time for the Carnival Applications that were submitted prior to this decision being made. We anticipate all our future Carnivals will be the same.

· Multi-class events will be awarded medals on a MIXED basis, not male/female.

· In order to try and ensure our Carnivals do not go too long, entries are limited to 400 competitors. Once we reach this number we will not be able to accept any further entries.

· In order to be eligible for consideration in the SKINS events, swimmers must enter the 200mIM, and at least two other events.

5. ACCOMMODATION FOR SA COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS MURRAY BRIDGE

The SA Country Championships will be held this year at Murray Bridge from Thu 9th to Sun 12th January.

This is the most important event for country swimming clubs on the SA swimming calendar, and one to which all eligible members of the club are expected to attend.

A “Superfish” program (for younger and non-championship qualified swimmers) and opening ceremony will be held on the afternoon/evening of Thursday the 9th, and this will be followed by 3 days of championship competition. Tammy Kearns has very kindly organised accommodation for the group – many families have booked their accommodation with Tammy, and she has recently reminded me that full payment for rooms is due in November. Tammy has also indicated that there are still a number of rooms available for families that have not yet booked their countries accommodation. It will be terrific to stay together as a team, so we encourage families to join us in the group accommodation if they are able.

Please contact Tammy (cc’d) directly if you are interested in booking a room, or you have any questions regarding the booking.

6. REVISED TEAMS FOR DUEL IN THE POOL SEASON LAUNCH DAY

Due to the unavailability of two swimmers, the teams for the upcoming Duel in the Pool Season Launch Day to be held on Sunday 20th October have been revised (see below).

If you are unavailable to attend our DUEL IN THE POOL LAUNCH day, please let me know ASAP.

7. BAROSSA SWIMMING CLUB SEASON CALENDAR

The new season (2019/20) commences on October 1st.

Please note also that the calendar includes a number of proposed dates, including short squad breaks (these dates still require committee ratification and approval).

While an extensive list of meets is indicated in the calendar, a host of other meets are available. Swimmers seeking competitions are encouraged to view the Swimming SA website for additional details of upcoming meets.

*On average, swimmers should aim to compete in one carnival per month across the season.

*Where possible, swimmers should discuss their carnival selection and event entries with the Head Coach.

8. CLUB CAPTAIN APPLICATIONS – CLOSED

Thank you to those that have applied for a captaincy position. All applicants are highly regarded by the coaching panel, and the selection of this season’s captains is certain to prove very difficult. The announcement of our club captains for season 2019-20 will be made at our season launch day of Sunday October 20th.

9. BRING A FRIEND CAMPAIGN – PRIZES TO BE WON

We ask that all our swimmers and their parents to continue to promote the positive benefits of their experience with our swimming club among their friends, family and associates. Each swimmer that brings along a friend will go into the running for a club prize.

10. LOST PROPERTY/EQUIPMENT LABELLING

Noah Ralph has misplaced his Barossa hoodie. Could you please have a look through your Barossa apparel to see whether or not you are in the possession of an additional hoodie.

Please also be reminded that all equipment (fins, kickboard, tempo trainer, paddles etc.) should be labelled. The coaching panel intend to make a concerted effort over the holiday period to ensure that this happens. Thank you for your anticipated support in this matter.

11. TRAINING CHANGES THIS WEEK

The Head Coach will be absent on state team coaching duties from Thu to Sat this week. As as a result, squad training on Friday for the TNAT/T1 squads will not be conducted.
