3. NORWOOD CARNIVAL REPORT
An intrepid group of 9 wavemakers braved cool temperatures at the Norwood Swimming carnival held out of the Payneham pool yesterday. Seemingly unfazed by the inclement conditions, our swimmers performed admirably, touching the wall first in a high proportion of swims.
Winners included Annabel Ashmead (9U 50 BK, 50 BR), Charlotte Ashmead (13-15yrs 50 BR), Keian Curthoys-Davies (Open 200 BR), Reuben Lehmann (15 and over 100 FLY, 100 FR), Leni Newham (12-14 100 BR, 100 FR), and Meg Wood (13-15 50 BK).
Best swims of the day came from Leni Newham in the 100 BREAST and in the 100 FREE in which she went within a whisker of the SA Country Record, Meg Wood in the 50 BACK and 50 FREE, Reuben Lehmann in the 100 FREE, Jasmine Carroll in the 400 FREE, Charlotte Ashmead in the 50 BREAST and 100 FREE, Sophie Ashmead in the 50 FREE, Annabel Ashmead in the 50 FLY and the 100 FREE in which she suffered an unfortunate DQ,
Many thanks to wavemaker Charlotte Shannon for her friendly and helpful assistance to coaches and teammates across the day.

7. MURRAY BRIDGE CARNIVAL – SUNDAY DECEMBER 13th
The closing date for the Jan 7th to Jan 10th country championships is Wednesday December 16th.
As such, swimmers seeking a final opportunity to achieve a country championship qualifying time are encouraged to attend this carnival. This has historically proven an enjoyable carnival for our junior swimmers to attend, so our non-championship age swimmers are also encouraged to attend.
Coach Scott will be in attendance.
Entries for the Murray Bridge Carnival close on Monday DEC 7th.
8. COACH-ATHLETE INTERVIEWS
The Head Coach has commenced athlete interviews, with productive and beneficial meetings having already been held with two of our swimmers.
Interviews of this nature serve as an important forum for communication and clarification of a swimmer’s goals, and the collaborative formulation of plan that gives the swimmer the best opportunity to achieve their goals.
At this stage, the Head Coach is available for interviews in 6x15 min timeslots from 4.00pm to 5.30pm each Thursday (i.e. 4.00pm, 4.15pm, 4.30pm, 4.45pm, 5.00pm, 5.15pm). Please book your interview as soon as you are able.
The interview is regarded as particularly important for our championship-level swimmers, but is open to all swimmers and their parents seeking an opportunity for a conversation with the Head Coach about the season ahead.
9. CALENDAR OF UPCOMING EVENTS – SEE BELOW
PLEASE ENTER THE GAWLER MEET NOW: A reminder again that the Gawler meet on November 29th is a targeted meet for all Barossa swimmers of all levels. New swimmers to the club are encouraged to look to this event as their first racing opportunity.
DIVISION 1/DEVELOPMENT MEET: Entries close this Wednesday 4th November
Other opportunities, such as the Murray Bridge Carnival of Sunday 13th December, are recommended for newer/junior swimmers. Please see the Swimming SA website for other available carnivals.
A new event on the Swimming SA calendar, the Christmas Cracker carnival to be held from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th December, will provide wonderful race practise ahead of the country championships that follow in January. Swimmers are encouraged to enter this meet.
All eligible Barossa swimmers must enter the SA country championships which will commence this year on Friday 8th January and which will be held out of SAALC. Please note that qualifying times apply for entry into championship events – we will provide a copy of these QTs as soon as they become available.
